Tea workers join work at Tk 120 wage

Workers in the tea industry who had been on a nationwide indefinite work stoppage in favor of a salary increase have decided to return to work at the present day wage of Tk 120.

According to our district correspondent, the decision to end the strike was made after a meeting between district administration and representatives of the Bangladesh Tea Workers' Union at the Moulvibazar DC conference room.

Following the conversation, the administration and the union leaders announced in a joint statement that the tea employees will start working on Monday at their present wage.

The meeting was presided over by Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Mir Nahid Ahsan.

According to the joint statement, "Bangladesh Tea Workers' Union called off their strike today in honor of the Prime Minister, preserving faith and confidence in her."
