IGP Benazir Ahmed gets US visa

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has received a US visa to participate in the conference of police chiefs of different countries organized by the United Nations.

A government source and two top police headquarters officials confirmed to The Daily Samakal that he got the US visa on Thursday.

The IGP is scheduled to attend the two-day United Nations Police Summit from August 31 to September 1. The delegation is scheduled to leave Bangladesh on August 30 to participate in the summit.

On December 10 last year, the US Department of State imposed sanctions on seven former and current RAB officials, including former Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and current IGP Benazir Ahmed.
