Bangladesh observing International Customs Day

Like other countries on the globe, Bangladesh is observing International Customs Day today.
The observance of the day marks the first official conference of the Customs Co-operation Council-the World Customs Organization (WCO).
The theme of the day this year is "Digital Customs: Progressive Engagement".
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion, wishing success of the Day.
In separate messages they greeted all officials and employees of the customs department and the tax-paying individuals and companies.
National Board of Revenue (NBR) organised rally and seminar at the Officers' Club in the capital marking the day.
The WCO was established in 1952 as an autonomous body to enhance the efficacy and effectiveness of the customs administrations across the world.
Having over 177 custom administration members, the WCO is the inter-governmental organization, which solely highlights the customs matters.
