Dhk-Ctg 4-lane to be opened in May: Obaidul

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Wednesday that construction of the Dhaka-Chittagong four-lane highway is almost finished.
While talking to reporters after a Cabinet meeting, Quader said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate it towards the end of May, reports UNB.
The current cost of the project stands at Tk. 3816.94 crore, after it was approved at an Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting on Tuesday.
He added that the first layer of the construction work has been completed and the finishing layer is being done currently.
The 192.3 km-long highway will mark the transition of the two-lane highway to a four-lane one, which consists of 23 bridges, 242 culverts and 14 bypass lanes, which are 32-km long.
It is mostly being financed by the government, with only a paltry portion from foreign donors.
