Cigarettes worth Tk 7cr seized at Ctg port

Customs intelligence officials at Chittagong Port have seized a container full of foreign cigarettes, worth Tk 7 crore, at the port on charge of importing the cigarettes under false declaration.

The container full of foreign cigarettes of Genetic Fashion was seized at the jetty of the port on Wednesday, said the port sources.

Zakir Hossain, deputy commissioner of Customs Intelligence in Chittagong, told Samakal a company named Genetic Fashion imported the cigarettes from United Arab Emirates under false declaration.

Market value of the foreign cigarettes is worth around Tk 7 crore, he said adding that a man was also held in this connection.
