Recurrence to be prevented: Fazle Kabir

Bangladesh Bank's newly appointed governor Fazle Kabir has asked to work with dedication so that any recurrence of the incident like recent reserve money heist can be prevented.

 

The former secretary of finance arrived at Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport Thursday morning carrying by a Qatar Airline flight from USA.

 

In reply to a question asked by a journalist he said he will try to repair the damage.

 

Further, this ex-chairman of the sate owned Sonali Bank, Mr Kabir said, "This significant responsibility, which has been shouldered to me by the government, honorable Prime Minister and honorable finance minister, I will take all my efforts to carried them on...A investigation committee has formed, the reports will come gradually. The devastation that has already been, if any damage reparation needed..and to prevent its recurrence we will take all our efforts."

 

Earlier, the government appointed former finance secretary and chairman of state-run Sonali Bank Ltd Fazle Kabir as the new governor of Bangladesh Bank for the next four years.

 

The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification to this end on Wednesday, reports the UNB.

 

The notification says Fazle Kabir has been made governor as per section 10 (5) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972 on contractual basis. It says the appointment will come into effect from the date of his joining the office.
