China to continue support for BD’s economic development

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has assured Bangladesh of continuing his country’s support to Bangladesh in its endeavors towards accelerated economic development, rapid industrialization, and human resource development, reports the UNB.

 

He made the assurance when State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam met him at the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

 

Alam is now in Beijing to attend the fifth Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Foreign Ministry here said on Thursday. Bangladesh Ambassador to China M Fazlul Karim was, among others, present.

 

The Chinese Foreign Minister said Bangladesh is now considered as one of the most prospective destinations for Chinese investments and expressed keenness to conclude a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh on production capacity cooperation.

 

He informed that the proposed industrial and economic zone in Bangladesh enjoys high priority on Chinese side.

 

The Chinese Foreign Minister also expressed keenness to further consolidate cooperation in areas such as agriculture, energy, connectivity, and Blue Economy.

 

State Minister Alam underscored the need for maintaining regular high-level contacts, particularly at top level, to inject fresh impetus to our relations.  

 

“Chinese investors are welcome to any part of the country, including the 100 Economic Zones that have been planned by the present government,” Alam said.

 

He reiterated the request to consider duty-free access of more Bangladeshi products to the Chinese market.
