Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Monday warned saying, 'Those who involved in Bangladesh Bank reserve heist native or international criminals will be brought to justice.'
The Minister came up with the warning while responding queries in the national parliament today.
Earlier on April 20, the probe body formed to investigate the Bangladesh Bank reserve heist handed over its interim report to Finance Minister AMA Muhith.
Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, head of the probe committee, has submitted the report to the Finance Minister.
Earlier Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has said, at least 20 foreign nationals have been identified for their suspected involvement in the theft of $ 101 million from Bangladesh Bank’s account with US Federal Reserve Bank.
'Involvements of 20 foreign nationals have been found in the Bangladesh Bank fund heist. Of them, some are from Sri Lanka and some are from Philippines,' said the CID official.
The investigation also found evidence of negligence by Bangladesh Bank officials, the CID sources said.
On February 4, hackers stole US$101 million from the Bangladesh Bank’s account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Of the stolen money, $81 million were wire-transferred to bank accounts in the Philippines and $20 million to Sri Lanka.
