Agrani Bank acting MD arrested

Hours after taking charge as Acting Managing Director (MD) of state-owned Agrani Bank, Mizanur Rahman, has been arrested today.

 

Sources said that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested the Acting MD of the bank from the capital's Dilkusha area, this afternoon.

 

Earlier the Managing Director (MD) of state-owned Agrani Bank Syed Abdul Hamid has been removed from his post today for his alleged involvement in a number of loan scams involving Tk 792 crore.

 

A letter of Bangladesh Bank published today has ordered to remove the MD.

 

Informing the removal, a letter signed by a central bank General Manager (GM) has been sent to the Secretary of Bank and Financial Institution Division of the Finance Ministry and the chairman of the Agrani Ban, said a source.
