FBCCI polls stayed for 2-month: HC

The High Court (HC) halted the election of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) for two months.  

The polls was scheduled to be held on May 14.

Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das of HC bench passed the order on Wednesday.

Mymensingh Chamber of Commerce president Aminul Haque filed a writ petition seeking halt of the FBCCI election.

He claimed that as per law every district will send proposed director's name to the centre. Mymensingh Chamber of Commerce applied in 2016 to include them in voter list.

They file a writ before FMCCI election schedule which the court also gave same direction.
