World's 12th-cheapest mobile data plan in Bangladesh

According to the "Worldwide Mobile Data Pricing 2022" analysis by Cable.co.uk, a British organization that evaluates internet pricing and speeds, Bangladesh is ranked 12th in the world for obtaining data at reasonable prices.

Mobile data in the nation typically costs around Tk. 33 (US $0.32) per gigabyte (GB).

India is ranked fifth in South Asia for providing affordable mobile internet access, followed by Nepal (10th), Sri Lanka (11th), Pakistan (13th), Bhutan (19th), Afghanistan (64th), and the Maldives (145th).

However, the Speedtest worldwide index published in September 2022 by Ookla places Bangladesh 125th out of 139 nations in terms of mobile internet speed.

The rest of South Asia, with the exception of Afghanistan, has quicker internet services than Bangladesh, according to speedtest figures.

Maldives, which has internet speeds of 62.32 Mbps, is the South Asian nation with the fastest growth rate, while Bangladesh has speeds of 11.71 Mbps.

The other South Asian nations are listed as follows: Afghanistan is ranked 137th, Pakistan is ranked 116th, Sri Lanka is ranked 117th, Nepal is ranked 115th.

While the speed is still noticeably slower than in Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Uganda, mobile internet in Bangladesh is more expensive than in France, Italy, and India.

In addition, Bangladesh is trailing African nations like Uganda, Angola, Namibia, the Republic of Congo, and Ethiopia in terms of access to high-speed internet.

After examining the costs and details of thousands of mobile data transactions across 233 nations and regions, Cable.co.uk issued the Worldwide Mobile Data Pricing 2022 study, which displays the most and least expensive mobile data pricing globally.

The report was created in cooperation with a number of organizations and establishments, including Princeton University's Planet Lab, Google Inc., and Open Technology Institute.
