Govt to take IMF loan, but not on tough terms: Obaidul Quader

General Secretary of Awami League, Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said that the government will not take IMF loan under strict conditions.

He said, “We will take loan from International Monetary Fund (IMF). But we will not go under any tough conditions.”

The AL leader said this while talking to reporters at his office in the Secretariat on Wednesday.

Obaidul Quader said, due to dollar crisis and pressure on foreign reserves, they need loans.

In this regard, he said, the loan is being discussed; what is reasonable will be accepted. There is no option but to take the money.

"We are aware of the conditions that the IMF has already mentioned. We will not accept any conditions that will harm the interests of the country,” he continued.
