Exports reach a record $5.37 billion in December

In December, Bangladesh's exports reached a new high of $5.37 billion, up 9.33 percent from the previous month's high in November.

According to information made public by the Export Promotion Bureau on Monday, the government's $5.42 billion monthly target for revenues for December is still significantly outpacing actual receipts.

The overall value of exports for the first half of the fiscal year 2022–2023 is already $27.31 billion, up 10.58 percent from the same period last year.

Bangladesh's leading export sector, apparel, did strongly in December. Exports of clothing have surged over the past six months by 15.56%, reaching almost $23 billion.

Knitwear brought in $12.67 billion, up 13.42 percent from the previous year, and woven clothing brought in $10.34 billion, up 18.29 percent.

Other notable exports during the first half of the year were leather and leather items, which brought in $637.2 million, an increase of 13% over the same period last year.
