New gas field discovered in Bhola

The newly discovered Bhola north-2 appraisal well in Bhola has probable gas extraction over 20 million cubic feet per day as its drilling has been successful, according to the ministry statement issued on Monday.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that the state owned Bapex brought good news for the country during the ongoing global energy crisis, reports BSS.

"Bapex has to continue it's exploration work for natural gas as per plan. Petrobangla has taken plan for exploration, development and work over of 46 wells by 2025," he wrote on his verified Facebook page.

The Bapex struck gas by digging about 3,428m deep.

The state minister said that off shore and onshore activities would have to be increased.

The government, he said, has been working to ensure energy security in the country.
