Transsion opens smart phone manufacturing plant in Bangladesh

Considering the demand for smartphones in Bangladesh, smart device and mobile service provider Transsion Holdings has inaugurated a digital device manufacturing plant titled 'I Smart U' in Bangladesh. 

Transsion's new factory is located in Narayanganj’s Meghna Industrial Economic Zone.

Transsion Holdings Chairman George Zhu and 'I Smart U' CEO Rezwanul Haq opened the new venture on Wednesday.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar was present on the occasion as chief guest.

In his speech, Mustafa Jabbar said the government is working to build the country as a manufacturing hub for digital devices and exporter of those. 

"One of the goals of the government's digitization plan was to transform the country into an exporter of digital devices from an importer," he said.

Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Executive Chairman Shaikh Yusuf Harun, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Vice Chairman Engineer Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, Meghna Group of Industries Chairman Mostafa Kamal, and Economic and Commercial Counsellor of Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh Song Yang spoke at the function, among others.
