Default loans now Tk1,31,620 crore

The total default loans in the country have stood at Tk1,31,620 crore, according to data of Bangladesh Bank.
Out of the total, default loans have increased by about Tk11,000 crore in the last three months starting from December of last year to March of this year, it said.
At present, default loans are 8.80 percent of the total loans of the banking sector.
State-owned banks have Tk57,959 crore or 19.87 percent of default loans while Tk65,889 crore or 5.96 percent of private banks' loans are default.
On the other hand, Tk3,042 crores or 4.90 percent of foreign banks' loans are default.
Nearly 12.80 percent or 4,732 crores of the total loans of the three government-owned specialised banks are currently in default.
