This budget will facilitate the poor: Finance minister

The budget for FY24 will prioritise the poor by expanding the social safety net, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said on Thursday.

"This budget will facilitate the poor. There will not be any significant pressure," the minister told journalists in front of his residence in Gulshan of the capital at around 10:30am, ahead of his presentation of the national budget in the parliament.

"The budget will retain continuity to maintain economic development. The social safety net is being expanded greatly this time," the minister added.

AHM Mustafa Kamal went on to say, "The government will be successful with this budget… This government does not want to achieve anything by impoverishing anyone."
