The Ministry of Commerce has allowed the import of another six crore eggs to make the commodity market stable.

Confirming the matter, Commerce Ministry's Public Relations Officer Md Haider Ali said six Bangladeshi companies were given the green light to import one crore eggs each.

Each egg will be sold at Tk 12 at the retail level.

On Monday, the ministry allowed the import of four crore eggs by four Bangladeshi companies.

Last week, the government fixed the price of eggs, as well as onions and potatoes.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi made the announcement after a meeting at the ministry on Thursday (September 14).

Regarding the decision to import eggs, the minister said at first a limited stock of the commodity will be imported. If the price still does not go down, large quantities will be imported.
