Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has called upon the Mexican entrepreneurs and business community to invest in Economic Zones (EZs) of Bangladesh.
The minister made the urge during a bilateral meeting with Mexican Secretary of Economy Raquel Buenrostro in Mexico, said a press release issued on Tuesday.
Tipu said, “The government has set a target to establish 100 economic zones to make a Smart Bangladesh by 2041 and make the country one of the fastest-growing economies in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Such a high-level meeting between the two nations took place in nearly 50 years.
In order to improve cooperation, Tipu Munshi, who is now in the country of North America, has suggested creating a joint trade organization on a bilateral basis.
A 12-person, high-level business delegation is being led by him.
Tipu Munshi and Buenrostro both vowed during the meeting to advance commercial ties.
Enacting agreements on double taxes and customs was a priority for Buenrostro.
She also urged the businesspeople of Bangladesh to look at trade possibilities with Mexico and expressed interest on the part of her nation in funding Bangladesh's pharmaceutical industry.
