General point-to-point inflation eases to 9.63%

The general point-to-point inflation rate eased slightly in September as it reached 9.63 per cent, down from 9.92 per cent in August, 2023 mainly due to the slight downtrend in both food and non-food inflation.

The general point-to-point inflation rate in July, 2023 was 9.69 per cent, according to the latest data of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The BBS data showed that the food inflation declined to 12.37 per cent in September 2023 down from 12.54 per cent in August.

On the other hand, the non-food inflation rate also declined to 7.82 per cent in September down from 7.95 per cent in August.

The general point-to-point inflation rate, both in the urban and rural areas also declined last month.

The point-to-point inflation in the rural areas in September was 9.75 per cent which was 9.98 per cent in August.

On the other hand, the point-to-point inflation in the urban areas in September was 9.24 per cent which was 9.63 per cent in August.

The annual average inflation from October 2022 to September 2023 notched 9.29 per cent.

The wage rate index in September witnessed an uptrend with 7.64 per cent which was 7.58 per cent in August.
