Gold price hits historic high of Tk 109,000 a bhori

Setting a new record for the already skyrocketing prices of gold, the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (Bajus) has decided to sell a bhori of 11.664 grammes of the precious metal at Tk 1.09 lakh starting Thursday.

Following the decision reached by the Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring in a meeting on Wednesday, the association issued a statement noting an increase in the price of pure gold.

At the moment, a bhori of 22-carat gold ornaments costs Tk 1.08 lakh.

For the first time, the price of gold in Bangladesh exceeded Tk 100,000 in July.
