Remittance inflow sees 17.07pc growth in December

In December 2023, remittances from Bangladeshis residing outside were US$1,989.87 million, representing a 17.06 percent rise over the same month of the previous year.

The central bank's data shows that in December 2023, the country received US$1,699.70 million from foreign Bangladeshi workers.

From July to December of the current fiscal year, 2023–24, expatriate Bangladeshis sent US$10,798.29 million in remittances, compared to US$10,493.26 million for the same time in the previous fiscal year.

With a value of US$634.37 million, the largest remittance entered the country through Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd.
