South Korea keen to assist Bangladesh in manufacturing own brand cars

South Korea is interested to cooperate Bangladesh in manufacturing its own brand cars.

South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Park Young-sik has expressed the keenness on Thursday during a meeting with Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at his office in the city.

Various issues, including new investment in Bangladesh, were tabled in the meeting.

The government wants to manufacture Bangladesh's own brand cars through Pragati Industries, a company of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) under the Industries Ministry, said the minister.

Humayun also said that car manufacturing activities will be accelerated with the cooperation of South Korea.

In the Automobile Industry Development Policy-2021, Bangladesh included the issue of 1500-1600 cc car manufacturing.

Among others, Senior Secretary of the Industries Ministry Zakia Sultana and former South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Seong Doo Ahn were present on the occasion.
