A.K. Azad becomes Shahjalal Islami Bank Chairman

Member of Parliament and Managing Director (MD) of Ha-Meem Group A.K. Azad has been elected as the Chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank.

He was unanimously elected as the chairman of the bank in the 373rd meeting of the board of directors of the bank on Tuesday.

In the same meeting, Mohammad Yunus was elected as the vice-chairman of the board of directors and Mohiuddin Ahmed was re-elected as the vice-chairman, said a press release.

The newly elected chairman A.K. Azad is a prominent industrialist and country’s successful businessman was born in 1959 in a noble Muslim family in Faridpur district.

He started business after getting his Honors degree in Applied Physics from Dhaka University.

Having been involved in jute, textile, tea and ready-made garment industry business for a long time, he has continued to work tirelessly and strive for the development of all these sectors and has made a unique contribution to the national economy.

He is the Managing Director of Ha-Meem Group of Companies, the country's leading garment manufacturer.

He is also the Managing Director of Channel 24 Television and The Daily Samakal.

A. K. Azad has been associated with various social and welfare organizations for a long time.

He is the former president of FBCCI, Bangladesh Chamber of Industries and Dhaka University Alumni Association.

Apart from the country's economy, he has also made a significant contribution to the field of education.

A.K. Azad was elected Member of Parliament from Faridpur-3 Constituency in the 12th National Parliament Elections.
