TCB imports 400 tonnes of chickpeas thru Benapole

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) imported approximately 400 tonnes of chickpeas into Benapole Port on Sunday.

Of the 4,000 tonnes that the TCB plans to buy from abroad for Ramadan in 2024, this is the first cargo.

As to Rabindra Singh, the deputy commissioner of Benapole Custom House, the chickpeas were released from the port on Monday after the quality inspections were completed.

He claimed that the cost of one kilogramme of imported chickpeas was Tk 85 a kg.

The TCB declared in a press release on February 14 that the price per kilogram of chickpeas will be Tk 55 a kg.

Each TCB family cardholder would also be able to purchase five kilos of rice for Tk 30 a kg, two litres of rice bran or soybean oil for Tk 100 a kg, and two kilograms of pulse for Tk 60 a kg, in addition to chickpeas.
