Gold price makes new record

Gold prices surged to a record high of Tk 114,074 per bhori two days after the jewelers announced  Tk 1,750 price decrease.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (Bajus) lowered the price of gold on March 19 from Tk 112,907, the previous record high, to Tk 111,158 per bhori, or 11.664 grams.

But the association released a new circular on Thursday announcing that gold will be sold at the updated price starting Friday.

A news release claimed that the Bajus raised the price of gold and silver as a result of rising its prices on the local market.
