Prof Shibli Rubayat reappointed as BSEC Chairman

The government has reappointed Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam as the Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). 

A circular to this end was issued on Sunday by Finance Ministry. 

Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam has been reappointed as Chairman as per the Section-5(6) of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993, for another four-year term, reads the circular.

His four-year term will commence from May 17, 2024 or the date of assumption of duties.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on April 4, consented to the ministry's recommendation for his reappointment.

On May 17 2020, Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam was appointed as the chief of the capital market regulatory body. His tenure will expire on May 16 this year.
