Sony says full-year net profit fell 3.5% but beat estimates

Japan's Sony said Tuesday that annual net profit fell 3.5 percent year-on-year to 970.6 billion yen ($6.2 billion) in 2023-24, beating the company's forecast of 920 billion yen.

Higher profits in the game and music business were offset by losses in Sony's financial sector and chip operations, it said. For the current financial year, the conglomerate expects net profit of 925 billion yen.
