Exchange rates reached as high as Tk 124 per US dollar in the informal kerb market on Tuesday.
Before the prevailing situation involving the quota reform movement, the dollar price was Tk 120, while banks were charging Tk 118.50 for remittances.
Bangladesh Bank on 8 May introduced the crawling peg, a flexible exchange rate system. Since then, the dollar price has been rising steadily.
