Protests at Bangladesh Bank, one deputy governor resigns

One of the deputy governors of the central bank resigned on Wednesday in the face of protests by the bank employees. 

Nearly 200 officials and employees on Wednesday morning staged a demonstration at the main building of the central bank. Deputy governor Kazi Sayedur Rahman has resigned and his room was surrounded by the protesters. 

The protesters have called for the resignation and judgement of the central bank's governor and all the deputy governors. They also urged for measures to ensure that the governor and all the deputy governors are unable to leave the country. Additionally, measures should be taken against the officials who helped the superiors in performing irregularities.
