Cash withdrawals over Tk 2 lakh not allowed this week

Citing security reasons, Bangladesh Bank has asked the banks of the country not to allow cash withdrawals of more than Tk 2 lakh this week. 

The central bank gave instructions to bankers through a message on Saturday. 

Previously, Bangladesh Bank asked the banks of the country not to allow cash withdrawals of more than Tk 1 lakh on Thursday. 

However, even though people cannot withdraw more than Tk 1 lakh cash, any amount of money can be transacted digitally.

The banking regulator also suggested encouraging the depositors to pay their parties through crossed checks.
