Gold price rises to record high

Gold prices surged to a record high of Tk 1,22,985 per bhori as jewellers announced a Tk 2,904 price hike on Sunday.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) released a circular announcing that gold will be sold at the updated price starting Monday. It claimed that the Bajus raised the price of gold as a result of raising its prices on the local market.

As per the circular, the price of hallmarked 22-carat gold will rise by Tk 2,904 per bhori, while that of 21-carat gold will rise by Tk 2,776 to Tk 117,398 per bhori. 

Besides, the price of 18-carat gold is set to go up by Tk 2,379 to Tk 1,00,625 per bhori. Traditional gold will see a hike of Tk 1,971 per bhori to Tk 83,199.
