The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has asked banks to freeze accounts of former chairman of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam and his family members.
On Tuesday, the central bank has also directed banks to suspend locker facilities extended to Shibli and his family members for 30 days.
The directive will be active since the issuance of the BFIU letter.
On August 10, Shibli Rubayat resigned from his post citing health grounds.
