BB to form 3 task forces to improve banking sector: ABB

Bangladesh Bank (BB) will form three task forces to improve the current situation of the country’s banking sector, said Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB) Chairman Selim RF Hussain.

He made the statement while talking to reporters after the meeting with BB Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur at the central bank headquarters in the city on Wednesday.

Selim said, “Three taskforces will be formed on the issues of non-performing loans management, strengthening project and legal framework to continue and accelerate the reforms undertaken by the new governor.”

He informed the journalists that experts from domestic and international institutions will be kept in these task forces.

The task force will be formed maintaining international standard, he said, adding that experts from World Bank and International Monetary Fund may be included.

The central bank will put priority on legal framework as well as manpower and efficiency to bring down classified loans.
