Govt to allow export of 3,000 tonnes of Hilsha to India

The Ministry of Commerce will permit the export of 3,000 tonnes of Hilsha to neighbouring India ahead of the Durga Puja.

Confirming the matter, a ministry order was issued on Saturday. It called for enterprises to apply for exporting the Hilsha by 12pm on 24 September to the ministry. 

Speculations have been circulating recently regarding the matter of exporting Hilsha to India this year. Previously, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock had hinted that no Hilsha would be exported to India this year. However, this decision from the commerce ministry has put an end to such speculations.
