Bank accounts of Premier Bank Chairman Iqbal, family frozen

Bank accounts of Premier Bank Chairman and HBM Iqbal and his family members have been frozen following the order of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU).

The BFIU sent a letter in this regard to all banks in the country last week, said sources knowledgeable with the matter.

According to the letter, the bank accounts of former member of parliament HBM Iqbal, his two wives Anjum Ara Shilpi and late Mumtaz Begum, two sons Moinuddin Iqbal and Ikram Iqbal, and daughter Naureen Iqbal were ordered to be frozen from November 11 to December 10. 

Bank accounts of companies solely owned by the individuals were also ordered to be frozen.
