No shortage of edible oil in market: Shfiqul Alam

There is no shortage of edible oil in the market, said Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shfiqul Alam.

He also said that the intern government has taken steps to make sure sufficient supply of the oil during the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan.

Shfiqul Alam was briefing journalists at Foreign Service Academy in the city on Sunday evening.

“We do not think that there is any crisis of soybean oil in the country. There is enough stock of soybean oil in the market,” he told the reporters.

In a meeting with importers of edible oil, the government asked them to take taken steps for opening of letters of credit (LCs) in banks for import, said Alam. 

The government is monitoring its price in the international market to avert any shortage in the supply line, he added.

Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretaries Apurba Jahangir and Abul Kalam Azad Majumder were present.
