NBR reduces source tax on cancer drug raw material

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has reduced the existing source tax on the import of raw materials used to manufacture cancer medicines.

The source tax has been reduced from 5 per cent to 2 per cent to make cancer treatment more accessible in the country.

To this end, NBR issued an SRO on Sunday. 

Cancer treatment facilities in Bangladesh are limited, and many are forced to seek advanced treatment abroad.

Talking to BSS, a senior official of NBR said the interim government has taken several initiatives to make treatment for cancer and other complex diseases locally available.
