Council of Advisers approves Tk 7.90 lakh crore budget

The Council of Advisers, in a meeting on Sunday, approved the national budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026. The total size of the budget is Tk 7.90 lakh crore.

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presented the budget while Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus presided over the meeting, held at the CA's Tejgaon office.

On June 1, the proposed budget was presented through a pre-recorded speech aired through Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.

The revenue target of the budget was Tk 5.64 lakh crore. 

Of the total estimated revenue income of Tk 5,64,000 crore, Tk 4,99,000 crore is expected to be collected through the NBR, and the remaining Tk 65,000 crore from other sources. 

Annual Development Programme (ADP) was fixed at Tk 2.30 lakh crore. 

Of the total ADP outlay for the FY26, Taka 1,44,000 crore will come from the government of Bangladesh portion while the rest of Taka 86,000 crore as project loan and grant.

The budget deficit was Tk 2.26 lakh crore. Of the total deficit in the proposed budget, Tk 1,25,000 crore is proposed to be financed from domestic sources and Tk 1,01,000 crore from foreign sources.
