Inflation eases to 3-year low in August at 8.29 per cent

The country's general point-to-point inflation rate eased to 8.29 per cent in August 2025, down from 8.55 per cent in July, according to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

This slight decline in inflation was mainly attributed to a drop in non-food inflation.

In June 2025, the general inflation rate stood at 8.48 per cent.

The BBS data showed that point-to-point food inflation rose slightly to 7.60 per cent in August, compared to 7.56 per cent in July. On the other hand, non-food inflation dipped to 8.90 per cent in August, down from 9.38 per cent the previous month.

Inflation in both rural and urban areas also recorded slight decreases during the same period.
