Banks to remain closed on 11-12 February for election

All scheduled banks in Bangladesh will remain closed on February 11 and 12, 2026, in observance of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum, with voting scheduled for February 12.

Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued a circular on February 1, 2026, announcing this closure. 

The directive aligns with a notification from the Ministry of Public Administration dated January 25, 2026, which declared government holidays on these two days to facilitate voter participation and election processes.

As a result, all scheduled banks operating across the country will stay closed on Wednesday, February 11, and Thursday, February 12. 

This instruction was issued under the provisions of the Bank Company Act.
