Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur being removed

The process to remove Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur as Governor of Bangladesh Bank and appoint his successor is currently underway, according to sources in the Ministry of Finance. 

Initiatives are being taken to appoint Mostaqur Rahman, a university teacher based in the United States, as the new governor. 

A formal proposal for this appointment has already been forwarded from the Ministry of Finance to the Prime Minister's Office for approval.

Sources indicate that the appointment of the new governor is expected to be finalised on Wednesday once all procedures are completed.

Meanwhile, Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur left the Bangladesh Bank premises around 2 pm. When reporters asked him at the time whether he had resigned, he departed without providing any response.
