Sonali Bank's Chairman Muslim Chowdhury resigns

Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, chairman of the state-owned Sonali Bank PLC, has resigned, citing personal reasons.

He submitted his resignation letter to the Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division on Monday morning, sources in the bank and the Financial Institutions Division confirmed the matter.

Prior to becoming chairman of Sonali Bank, Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury served as the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh (CAG). He is also a former Finance Secretary of the government.

He was appointed chairman of Sonali Bank in August 2024 for a three-year term.

It may be noted that on the same day, Mohammad Joynal Bari, chairman of Sadharan Bima Corporation, also resigned. Additionally, Aslam Alam, chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), has tendered his resignation.
