Prices of goods, services may go up

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has placed the national budget – with a financial outlay of Tk9.38 lakh crore – for the fiscal year 2026-27 in parliament.

This is the first budget of the current BNP government after it took office through the February 12 general election.

Prices likely to go up

Prices are likely to increase for cigarettes and tobacco products nicotine pouches, locally produced alcoholic beverages in Bangladesh, passenger vehicles with 1200–1600 cc engine capacity, imported washing machines, imported copper tubes, imported cold-rolled and coated coils/sheets, imported transformers (1 kVA capacity), imported DC motors up to 1200 watt capacity, imported honey, imported coffee, imported cashew nuts, imported toys, imported tiles, imported toilets and basins, imported paints and sanitary fixtures, imported mayonnaise and edible oils, imported potato chips, imported leather and leather products and MS (mild steel) products.
