Gold price increased by Tk2,508 per bhori

The price of gold has increased in the country’s market. According to the new decision, the price of 22-carat gold has increased by Tk2,508 per bhori. As a result, the price of gold has increased three times in a row. 

Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new price in a notification on Thursday morning. The new price has come into effect from 10:00 am today.

BAJUS said that the impact of the increase in the price of pure gold and silver in the global market has also affected the domestic market. The price has been adjusted after reviewing the overall situation.

According to the new price, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk2,32,930 per bhori. In addition, the price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk2,22,491 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk1,91,156 per bhori and the price of traditional gold at Tk1,56,64 per bhori.

The notification also said that the new price has been fixed including VAT. However, wages will be added separately depending on the design and craftsmanship of the jewellery. A decision on VAT on silver jewellery will be announced later.

After the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the price of gold was reduced four times in the country’s market. During that time, the price of gold per bhori decreased by a total of Tk19,771.

Meanwhile, the price of silver has been kept unchanged. The price of a 22-carat bhori of silver is Tk5,365. In addition, the price of 21-carat bhori of silver is Tk5,132, 18-carat bhori of silver is Tk4,432 and the price of traditional silver is Tk3,324.
