BASIC Bank Scam: ACC quizzing ex-chairman Bacchu

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is interrogating former BASIC Bank Chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bachchu for the second day over the loan scams.

The second day of questioning began at 10:00am on Wednesday at the ACC office in Segunbagicha.

After interrogation yesterday, Bachchu told the media he believed himself innocent. “The allegations are still being investigated. Nothing has been proven yet. Let us see what happens,” he said. 

In 2015, the ACC had filed the 56 cases over the embezzlement of Tk 2,036 crore from BASIC Bank. However, Bacchu was not made accused in any of the cases.

On November 23 this year, the anti-graft body summoned the former chairman and the 10 ex-directors for interrogation.
