Border killings will not affect trade with India: Commerce Minister

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said that the killings on the Bangladesh-India border are irregular incidents and therefore, trade with India will not be affected.

He came to Rangpur on a two-day visit and spoke to reporters at his residence on Central Road in the city on Saturday morning.

The Commerce Minister said that this time, the government has taken initiatives to meet the demand through their production without importing onions.

"It is a lesson for us to face ban on onion export from the India without prior notice, so this time the government plans to meet onion demands through its own production by increasing the profitability of the farmers of the country."
