BB asks banks to waive penalty on credit card dues

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has instructed the commercial banks to waive penalty for credit card users on any late payment from March 15 in view of the ongoing holidays due to coronavirus outbreak.

Considering the financial capability and ongoing other situations, the central bank has issued this instruction to the banks, said a BB press release issued here on Saturday.

If any bank has already received the late fee or charge or penalty interest or additional profit or any other fee since March 15, the bank will have to return the charge or adjust with the next bill, the release added.

The instruction will be applicable till May 31.
