Panchagarh-Dhaka special train for transporting agricultural products

A special train has been launched on the Panchagarh-Dhaka line to transport agricultural products and emergency goods during the Corona pandemic. 

Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh, Sabina Yasmin inaugurated the parcel train service at Freedom Fighter Sirajul Islam Station in the district on Monday afternoon.

Superintendent of Police Mohammad Yusuf Ali, Zilla Parishad Chairman Anwar Sadat Samrat, Lalmonirhat Division Manager of Railways Shah Sufi Nur Mohammad, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Amirul Islam and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Arif Hossain were present on the occasion.

It is learned that with the help of this train, various vegetables including cucumber, tomato, brinjal, chili, gourd, bean, sweet pumpkin produced in different areas of the district will be sent to different places of the country, including Dhaka. 

On the first day, four local vegetable traders sent three tonnes of cucumbers, tomatoes, brinjel and red chili to Dhaka.

According to the Panchagarh Railway Department, the train will run every Saturday, Monday and Wednesday. 

It will leave Panchagarh station at 1 pm and reach Dhaka at 3 am. 

Parcels will reach Panchagarh from Dhaka on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. 

The train will leave Dhaka at 8 am and will reach Sirajul Islam Station at 8 pm.
