VAT exemption for edible oil till September

The government has decided to extend the value-added tax (VAT) exemption facility for edible oil at the production and consumer level till September this year.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday.

The service was first made available in March by the government in an effort to reduce the nation's rising edible oil prices. 

On March 14, the government announced a 20 percent value-added tax (VAT) exemption for soybean oil at the consumer and producer levels through June 30.
